Ants are insects in the Formicidae family and belong in the order Hymenoptera. Ants are eusocial and form colonies. Their colonies range from a few dozen ants living in small natural cavities to millions of ants in highly organized colonies occupying large territories. Our ant control services are designed to eliminate ant infestations and prevent future problems.
Bed bugs are insects that survive by consuming blood. They primarily target human blood and are most active during the night. In case you find bed bugs in your residence, it's likely you're dealing with Cimex lectularius, also known as the common bed bug. These pests propagate by moving from one place to another on foot or by latching onto personal items. While they are incapable of flying, they possess the ability to move swiftly across surfaces. Bed bugs are small, reddish-brown insects that can be anywhere from 1 to 7mm in size. Their bodies are oval and can either be flat or slightly plump,
Mosquitoes belong to the Diptera order and are characterized by their ability to fly. Their anatomy includes a segmented body, a single pair of wings, three pairs of slender, hairy legs, and specialized mouthparts. Typically, mosquitoes measure between ⅜ and ½ an inch in length. The mouthparts of female mosquitoes are adapted into a long proboscis capable of piercing and sucking, which they use to feed on blood. Conversely, male mosquitoes lack the necessary mouthparts to penetrate the skin. There are approximately 3,000 species of mosquitoes in the world; about 176 types of mosquitoes can be found in the United States
Cockroaches belong to the Blattodea order and possess mandibulate mouthparts suitable for chewing. These insects have oval bodies ranging in size from ¾ to 3 inches and typically exhibit a reddish-brown hue. However, they may appear white briefly following their molting process. Out of the approximately 4,600 species of cockroaches, around 30 are found in environments shared with humans.
Among these, only five species are commonly recognized as pests, namely:
Rats and mice are the most prevalent rodent pests, with their main differences being size and behavior. Both species have a compact body covered in thin fur that can be grey, brown, or black. Typically, mice have a body length of about 3 inches, while rats are larger, averaging around 6 inches in length. They rely on human habitats for food, water, and shelter, making them frequent nuisances in both residential and businesses.
Mice are capable of squeezing through gaps as small as ¼ inch to invade homes or buildings in search of food, water, and a suitable nesting site. Rats, similarly, reliant on human resources for survival, can infiltrate buildings through small openings in pursuit of shelter, sustenance, and water.
Termites are insects that belong to the infraorder Isoptera, known for their wood-digesting abilities. Commonly encountered types include damp wood, dry wood, and subterranean termites. These insects typically range in size from ¼ to ½ inch in length and display colors from white to light brown.
Identifying Termites: To determine if you have a termite problem, begin by inspecting the exterior foundation of your property and then move inward. Early indicators of an infestation include:
What are Ticks? Ticks are arachnids that feed on blood and are closely related to spiders. Ticks hunt by latching on to hosts (such as humans or dogs) as they walk through tick-infested habitats like grass. Once they attach to the host, they cut through the body and attach their feeding tube. If they are not removed, ticks can feed for hours, even days.
What are Mites? Mites, on the other hand, are much smaller than ticks but feed off hosts in the same way. Mites can be difficult to spot, but the difference is mites feed off of dead skin. You’ll often find mites in dusty lampshades, dirty laundry piles, in your unwashed sheets and neglected spaces.
What are Fleas? Fleas are tiny parasites that are a common problem among homeowners in our region, especially those with pets. Only about 1/8 of an inch in length, fleas range in color from brown to reddish-brown and are known for the ability to jump about 8 inches high. Fleas are attracted to warm-blooded animals including dogs and local wildlife.
A wasp is a member of the Hymenoptera order and the Apocrita suborder, characterized by a slender waist, smooth exterior, and four wings. Hornets, which are a specific kind of wasp, feature more robust waists but share the same smooth skin and wing structure.
Yellowjackets stand out due to their vivid yellow patterns and, along with hornets, fall under the wasp category within the Vespidae family. Both yellowjackets and hornets exhibit eusocial behavior, with a reproductive queen cohabiting with non-reproductive worker wasps.
